A woman has died after two boats collided in Sydney’s Pittwater area, while a man was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries. Paramedics had to be flown by black-painted helicopter to a remote jetty after the skiffs crashed near Elvina Bay in Pittwater at around 7pm on Sunday – opposite the exclusive Scottish island. The woman was found unconscious and despite the desperate efforts of the emergency services to revive her, she died on the spot. Not yet recognized. Witnesses reported hearing a bang and cries for help from the water. Christine Marks from Ambulance NSW said emergency services were trying to attend the isolated scene, which is outside Ku-Ring Gai National Park. “This was a major mobilization of the emergency services in very difficult conditions – darkness, across cold water, in a very inaccessible location,” he said. “Our aeromedical team made very good access to the patient under the circumstances. The police will prepare a report for the coroner.
