Click here to view the gallery Crowds packed Downtown Vernon for the Sun Valley Cruise-In downtown car show Saturday afternoon. Dozens of classic cars, trucks, hotrods and specialty vehicles lined 30th Avenue and side streets following a cross-country cruise earlier in the day. Vehicles ranged from 1940s classics to 50s hotrods, 1960s and 1970s muscle cars, and a strong array of modern sports cars. And there was live music at 2900 Plaza with the rock band the Silverbacks, who entertained as showgoers escaped the heat in the shade of the trees at picnic tables along the sidewalk. The patios were full and crowds were eager to return to more normal events after two years of pandemic restrictions. The downtown action continued into the evening, and the Cruise-In weekend will continue today with its main show and sparkle at Polson Park. The show runs from 10am to 3pm and will feature a pin-up contest and live music by Dixie Fried rockabilly band Hep Katz, along with a swap meet.
