“It was unusual for an area of Moralee Drive because it’s a quiet suburban road, so we didn’t know what to expect when we got there,” Comox Assistant Fire Chief Jim Lariviere said. When he arrived on scene, he found that two victims were riding a motorcycle and a three-wheeled ATV when they collided head-on. Both were seriously injured. “It was already on the ground, on someone’s lawn,” Lariviere added. “Members of the public were there, there was a nurse, she was there helping when I got there.” CHEK News was told at the scene that the two who were injured came from a house near the scene of the accident and their friends and family were being comforted by people on the street. “The neighborhood was affected because it was right there. There were people out on their streets and people around the corner from the accident heard the crash and came over,” Lariviere said. “Actually, that’s where the nurse came on the scene from.” An RCMP collision investigator analyzed the scene as is protocol in serious incidents. The victims are a 19-year-old and a middle-aged man. There is no word from police on what may have caused the crash. One victim was taken to Vancouver and the second to Victoria for treatment. There was no update on their conditions Saturday.
