Virginia Rep. Elaine Luria, a member of the House Committee on Jan. 6, said new witnesses are expected to testify this week, according to a Politico report. In addition, the funeral of Trump’s ex-wife Ivana will be held on Wednesday. Ivana Trump, the mother of three of Donald Trump’s children, died of “blunt injuries to the torso” suffered during an accidental fall at her Manhattan home last Thursday. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at a historic Catholic church in the Upper East Side neighborhood where she lived, according to a New York Post report. The death of Ivana Trump resulted in the postponement of the deposition of Donald Trump and his two oldest children. That filing is part of a civil investigation by the New York state attorney general into possible financial fraud by the Trump Organization, according to a Forbes report. On Sunday, Luria said new witnesses to appear at the committee’s eighth and final scheduled public hearing on Thursday, Jan. 6, will shed more light on Trump’s role in last year’s Capitol invasion. “There are other witnesses that we have spoken to that have not yet appeared in our previous hearings that will add a lot of value and information to the events of that critical time on January 6,” the Democratic congresswoman told CNN’s State of the Union. . And he continued: “I’ll tell you [they are] people who were in the White House, people who were close to the president, and people who had insight into the actions that were going on in various ways that they were trying to control the violence and stop what was happening on Capitol Hill.” Luria said the panel at Thursday’s hearing would go through a “minute-by-minute” timeline of what Trump did during the uprising. “He didn’t act. He had a duty to act. So we’re going to deal with that in a lot of detail. And from that, we’re going to build on the information that we gave in the previous hearings.” Following the news of Ivana Trump’s death, the former president took to his social network platform, Truth Social, to express his grief. He also canceled his rally in Arizona because of the news. “It is with great sadness that I inform all those who loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York,” he wrote. “She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman, who lived a wonderful and inspiring life. “Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest in peace, Ivanna!” According to an invitation obtained by the New York Post, the service at the Catholic Church of St. Vincent Ferrer is scheduled to start at 13:30 and it will be a celebration of life. Delaney Kempner, a spokeswoman for New York Attorney General Letitia James, said in a statement that the former president’s lawyer requested a delay in the depositions after Ivana Trump’s death. “We offer our condolences to the Trump family,” Kebner added, according to an Associated Press report. But James’ office said the depositions would be rescheduled as soon as possible. Donald Trump could receive news of the rescheduled date this week. James alleges that the former president’s company, the Trump Organization, inflated the values of skyscrapers, golf courses and other holdings in order to obtain loans, insurance and other benefits. Trump denied the allegations, saying it’s common in the real estate industry to seek the best valuations.
