Fire crews tackled a blaze at a pub in Trafalgar Square in “difficult” conditions on Tuesday night. Around 70 firefighters were initially battling the blaze at The Admiralty pub – but this number later rose to around 125 due to “difficult and hot conditions”. The London Fire Brigade said they were called to the blaze at 5.49pm, by which time around 150 people had evacuated the pub and surrounding businesses. There were no reports of injuries. The pub’s basement and cellar were damaged by the fire. It took until 10 p.m. to bring the fire under control. Earlier, the London Fire Brigade said in a statement: “We have 10 fire engines and around 70 firefighters tackling the fire at a pub in Trafalgar Square. Half the basement is lit.
