Authorities responded to a horrific crash in Staten Island that left three dead and several others injured Sunday night, police said. All the victims were teenagers, officials said. They were in a red Ford Mustang that collided with a GMC Yukon, the New York Daily News reported.
Police responded to the crash on Victory Avenue in the Tottenville neighborhood around 8:50 p.m., according to the report. The impact of the crash was enough to break the Mustang in two, photos and videos at the scene showed. (Fox 5 WNYW) The victims included two girls, ages 16 and 15, and a boy, age 15, police said. The occupants of the SUV are in stable condition, WABC reported. The photos also appear to show the front half of the barely recognizable Mustang resting on the side of the road, without its front bumper, its airbags ruptured and its windows smashed on the opposite side of the road. Several emergency vehicles, including a fire engine and an ambulance, were also seen in the area as bystanders watched nearby. The third teenage girl survived the initial wreck and was taken in critical condition to Staten Island University Hospital North, where she later died, the New York Post reported. At least five others were taken to local hospitals, officials said. Another injured person remained at the scene and refused treatment, officials added.
