The actor behind the iconic Man from Del Monte commercials has died aged 91 after a long battle with cancer. Brian Jackson is best known for starring in more than 25 commercials in 32 countries from the 1980s to the early 2000s as a white-suited fruit inspector with a Panama hat who buys only the best juice. The long-running TV campaign always used the tagline: “The man from Del Monte, says yes.” Jackson joins a select group, including the Milkybar Kid, the Cadbury’s Flake lady, the Gold Blend couple and the Volkswagen girl, who have left a lasting impression on viewers’ memories. The veteran actor died peacefully at his home in London’s West End on Saturday, July 2, 2022 with his wife and youngest daughter by his side after a long battle with prostate cancer. He also played cricket with his team, the Stage Cricket Club, for more than 50 years, playing his last winning match at the age of 88.
