Toronto police Const. David Hopkinson said officers were called after a man was seen taking a child in a pushchair on the tube at Victoria Park station just before 5pm.
The TTC said it stopped trains between Kennedy and McCowan stations were closed as of 5:49 p.m. due to a “security incident”.
The man and child were last seen heading east on the subway toward Kennedy Station.
Officers later met with the man and child, Hopkinson said.
No party was injured.
A TPS 41 Division staff sergeant later told CP24 that there was no kidnapping and the matter was a misunderstanding “between two separate parties.”
