This is the moment a New York funeral descended into chaos as a widow and her dead husband’s family fought over his open casket. Wild footage from the Funeraria Juan-John Funeral Home in East New York shows widow Ormella Ramos, 26, getting slapped, punched and even spit on by her in-laws during the funeral of her husband, Marc Anthony Humberto Ramos. Surveillance video shows the widow being yelled at by her sister-in-law, who eventually slapped one of Ramos’ friends, who had come to help. A fight then ensued as both sides got involved, resulting in wreaths – and even the coffin of the deceased – being overturned. A family member of the deceased can even be seen spitting on Ramos and members of her party during the melee – which happened days after her husband’s 2019 drowning death at a North Carolina state park . Ramos – who did not throw a punch during the fight – called the police as the fight broke out. She and her young son then fled to a side room in the funeral home where they kept other bodies. Ramos has since sued the funeral home over the altercation, which reportedly was the culmination of years of tension between Ramos and her late husband’s family, and was preceded by an argument over whether or not his body should be cremated. Ramos says they have failed to ease the tensions they had been warned would emerge between the two tribes – despite assurances that things would be kept under control. She adds that both her husband Marc were high school sweethearts who had their first child when she was 17 – and that her husband’s family never approved of their relationship. When Marc, 22, accidentally drowned at Hanging Rock State Park in June 2019, she said she was blamed for his death. The family – which includes the couple’s four school-aged children – lived less than 20 miles from the location where Marc is said to have died. Everyone was present when dad drowned. “They want clear questions from that day,” Ramos said at the time of her children, who were traumatized by the incident. “Why did he drown?” “How?” – Returns; “Why can’t he come back?” were some of the questions Ramos remembers being asked by the youngsters. Days later, Ramos said the children suffered more injuries at their father’s funeral when other family members joined the fight. “This is really emotionally traumatic for me and my family,” Ramos said of the noisy service. “I wanted to have some kind of positive memory for me and my children. I wanted some good memory from their dad.” Ramos, who sued the funeral home on the belief that the mortician could have done more to create a safe and controlled environment for her and her children, continued: “You can’t bring their dad back, but what happened is not.” correctly. “He also deserved a decent service.” Wild footage from Funeraria Juan-John Funeral Home in East New York shows Ormella Ramos, 26, getting slapped, punched and even spat at by her in-laws during the funeral of her husband, Marc Anthony Humberto Ramos.
