Photo: Anarchist Mountain Fire Service UPDATE: 9:20 a.m The Anarchist Mountain Fire Department says fortunately no one was injured in a fire that broke out on the 3 Freeway at Chapman Road overnight. Hwy. 3 was closed in both directions for 90 minutes and then went to one lane, alternating traffic until 1:15 a.m. Monday morning and fire crews were on the scene for five hours. The sole occupant of the RV was able to escape unharmed. “We are very fortunate that the vegetation was not as dry as last year; firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading with a quick attack,” said AMFD Fire Chief Urs Grob. The eastbound lane is still under repair. DriveBC reports possible delays. UPDATE: 7:05 a.m A motor home was destroyed by fire overnight on Highway 3 east of Osoyoos. A photo posted to Facebook by the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department shows the wrecked RV, which closed the highway Sunday night. While driveBC reported that traffic was down to just one lane, the fire department said in its post that the highway was open in both directions with traffic control on scene as of 1:15 a.m. It is not yet known if anyone was injured in the fire. DriveBC first reported the incident, which completely closed the route for several hours, at approximately 11:20 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle incident is reported on Chapman Road, 10 kilometers east of Osoyoos, in Anarchy Mountain. The nature of the incident and whether there are any serious injuries are currently unknown.
