Reports Of Shots Fired At Banff Avenue Victim S Funeral Site

According to police sources, the shooting happened at the Ottawa Muslim Cemetery, the same site where the funeral was held for 24-year-old Abdulhamid Haji Ragab, who died earlier this week in a fatal shooting in a south Ottawa neighborhood. Chawn Lemieux appeared in court Friday in connection with that incident. He is charged with second-degree murder and remanded in custody. Police vehicles blocked the entrance to the cemetery after 4pm and officers turned away cars trying to enter the area. A CBC reporter overheard a police officer telling a driver “it’s a crime scene” as they pulled him over. In a tweet, Ottawa police asked people to avoid the area. The investigation continues.
