An Enderby man was killed in Tuesday’s fatal crash on Highway 97 north of Vernon. RCMP are continuing to investigate the crash, which happened just after 11 a.m. at the junction of highways 97 and 97A in Spallumcheen. Investigators determined a northbound pickup veered into oncoming traffic, striking two vehicles before colliding head-on with a dump truck. The driver of the pickup, a 69-year-old Enderby man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was taken by ambulance to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Highway 97 was closed for several hours after the incident. A member of the RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services team conducted a full examination of the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation, police say. Anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam video is asked to contact the Armstrong office of the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-546-3028 and quote file number 2022-4172.
