Pridefest has officially begun. In what was estimated to be their best showing in nine years of ceremonies, Sault Pride members, allies and supporters gathered at City Hall to officially kick off this year’s Pridefest event. The week-long festival features a series of fun, educational and empowering events held across the city. Several Sault Pride representatives, guest speakers and politicians were among those who gave speeches this afternoon at City Hall, all offering powerful words of encouragement and support to the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community. After raising the Pride flag, members and allies joined together and walked to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Center for this year’s Loud & Proud Family Fun Day. The event lasts until 5 pm. and features local vendors, live entertainment and lots of food and treats. To browse Pridefest’s week of events, visit here.
