The male suspect is considered “armed and dangerous,” according to a police release issued Thursday afternoon. Police say the stabbing took place when the male victim tried to separate a man and a woman who were having an “altercation” in the area of Rideau Street and Mackenzie Avenue. The suspect stabbed the man, who was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition. Paramedics said the victim was taken to The Ottawa Hospital’s Civic campus trauma unit. The intersection of Rideau and Mackenzie was closed and a few OC Transpo routes detoured until about 12:45 p.m.
