Can emergency crews easily locate your house number? The police, firemen and rescuers should be able to recognize your street address easily and quickly when you arrive at your home. Penticton RCMP are reminding homeowners to check their house numbers to make sure they are visible from the street. Police are asking residents to consider the following:
Is there an overgrown tree blocking your numbers? Have your numbers faded or faded? Are your numbers easy to see in the dark? Are they reflective or illuminated? Have a long unmarked road? Are you a member of a duplex, townhouse or basement suite? Can your unit be easily identified?
“If your house numbers are blocked or defaced, the delay in locating your address can be the critical minutes we need to help you,” Cst. Dayne Lyons Penticton RCMP media relations officer said in a press release.
Police say to check how the front of your house looks from the street. “If you can’t quickly locate your house number, chances are neither can we.”
