The Blues were linked earlier in the transfer window with a potential move for the 37-year-old superstar. However, the Guardian claimed earlier this week that Chelsea are no longer interested in signing Ronaldo after talks with his representatives. Despite his age, the Portuguese forward was still a standout at Old Trafford last season with 24 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for Man United. Photo by Naomi Baker/Getty Images

Merson believes Chelsea should sign Ronaldo
Insider Merson reckons Manchester United centre-forward Ronaldo would be a huge success in the Chelsea line-up. He therefore urged Thomas Tuchel’s side to make another move for him. “Chelsea won’t finish higher than third next season unless they sign a world-class striker,” Merson wrote for the Daily Star. And that’s why they should change their minds about Cristiano Ronaldo, because he’s a player that’s perfect to fill the role that’s still on the market. “You keep hearing that Ronaldo was offered to Chelsea weeks ago and now they have decided not to sign him. But that’s wrong.” Photo by Michael Steele/Getty Images
CF role at Stamford Bridge
It will be very interesting to see how Chelsea shape up in attack by the time the new season kicks off.
Kai Havertz, who played centrally at times during the last campaign, looks to be a front-runner for a place in the starting line-up as a forward.
In addition, exciting young striker Armando Broja is currently training with the squad during pre-season following a successful loan spell at Southampton last year.
Will Chelsea look to continue their impressive window so far by signing a new No.9?
Raheem Sterling, along with today’s new signing Kalidou Koulibaly, represent the Blues who are serious about bringing in proven players this window.
