One man was sent to the hospital and four others, including an infant, were displaced by a Friday morning fire on Rickett’s Road in St. John’s that damaged a building that included apartments and Stogger’s Pizza. The Canadian Red Cross provided emergency accommodation, meals, clothing purchases and other essentials for two men, a woman and a 3-month-old baby from two apartments.
Similar help will be offered to a man from another apartment who had to be taken to hospital for treatment after leaving the building hanging from a second-floor window where he was rescued by firefighters. The fire broke out in an upper floor apartment around 9:00 in the morning Stogger’s Pizza posted an announcement on its Facebook page that it will be closed until further notice due to extensive fire damage.
