Novak Djokovic will play Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday after beating British No1 Cam Norrie 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4. Norrie rattled his illustrious opponent and thrilled the Center crowd with an electrifying first set, but the 20-time Grand Slam champion hit back mercilessly. This was Djokovic’s 27th consecutive Wimbledon win and he is one match away from becoming the fourth player since World War I to win four consecutive titles. Norrie won just three points on Djokovic’s serve and was regularly in trouble on his own. He lost a backhand volley game as Djokovic made it 5-3 and the Serb served out for the set. Djokovic got one of his regular? – bathroom breaks at this stage. He did the same in two sets against Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals and gave himself a talking to in the mirror. Whatever he did this time had a similar effect as he appeared to swing freely and play with controlled aggression. Despite his defeat, the British No 1 has now won wider recognition in this country Norrie’s usually metronomic backhand began to crumble after constant attacks from Djokovic’s forehand.
