The chancellor insisted she remained a staunch ally of Mr Johnson despite publicly urging him to step down amid a flurry of ministerial resignations last week. “Boris Johnson has been my friend for 30 years,” Zahawi told LBC on Wednesday. “If he wants to serve in the cabinet, I would certainly offer him a job.”
