Michael Owen is reportedly available to visit his daughter Gemma and her partner Luca Bies in the Meet The Parents episode of Love Island. The former England striker, 42, is believed to have a free schedule in the last week of July, which would be a “golden opportunity” for him to fly to the villa in Mallorca. BT Sport has announced that there will be no football matches that week, so he will not be required to work as a sports pundit for the channel, according to The Sun. ‘It’s a golden opportunity’: Michael Owen reportedly available to visit daughter Gemma and her partner Luca Bies in Love Island episode Meet The Parents It would be the first time Michael would be able to see his daughter, 19, who flew to the Balearic island to begin quarantine in mid-May ahead of the ITV2 show’s premiere. A source told the paper: “The end of July seems to be a golden opportunity for Michael to see Gemma. “He’s notoriously private and anything could change between now and finals week but, all things considered, his chances of getting in are better than ever.” The Meet The Parents episode comes just before the final and sees the couple’s parents or loved ones fly out to see them and meet their romantic partner. MailOnline has contacted representatives for Gemma, Michael, Love Island and BT Sport for comment. It comes after a source told MailOnline that Michael is “scared” Gemma will be pushed into more dangerous tasks in the weeks leading up to the series finale if she is to win. The athlete refused to watch his daughter take part in the heart-pounding challenge last week, which saw her dress up and dance in front of the boys. Father-of-four Michael previously insisted in the weeks leading up to the episode that he didn’t think Gemma would be happy to take part in the challenge. Family: It would be the first time Michael would be able to see his daughter, 19, who flew to the Balearic island to begin self-quarantine in mid-May ahead of the ITV2 show’s premiere However, after she did, insiders told MailOnline that the former England star hopes she won’t settle for what she’s comfortable with in order to win the show. A pal said: “To be honest, Michael will be relieved when Gemma comes home. He is very proud of her and knows she has a sensible head on her shoulders. “But he knows she’s incredibly ambitious, which has left him a bit concerned that she doesn’t drive her to do things to win the show that she might otherwise have walked away from. “He’s sure it won’t happen, but he just hopes it doesn’t go too far. Michael hasn’t watched much of the show as he’s been very busy in recent weeks, but his wife Louise keeps him up to date on what’s going on. The source added that Michael told his wife not to bring up any of the “bad stuff” going on in the show. With more contestants arriving this week, the stakes have been raised even higher, with the potential for more aggressive challenges and tasks for the housemates as they compete to reach the final. The couple who win the final at the end of the series will also have the chance to take home £50,000 with the final twist being whether the favorite couple decided to split it or steal it for themselves.
