PC Thomas Andrews was remanded in custody by Westminster magistrates and is due to appear at Woolwich Crown Court on August 8 after being arrested on Saturday. He faces charges of causing actual bodily harm, criminal damage and three counts of willful strangulation. it follows an incident at around 1am on Saturday in Brockley Rise, south-east London. Patrol officers were alerted by a member of the public and spoke to a man, later identified as PC Andrews, the Met Police said. A woman at the location, who was known to the man, reported that she had been assaulted and that her phone had been damaged. The Met’s Professional Standards Directorate has been informed and PC Andrews has been suspended, the Met said.
