Two churches were set on fire and a third vandalized in Bethesda, Maryland this weekend, authorities said. Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, authorities were called to the North Bethesda United Methodist Church for vandalism and arson, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said. About 1,000 feet away, investigators also found damaged headstones and “broken pieces of wood” scattered around the Wildwood Baptist Church. Damage is estimated at $50,000 to the Catholic church, which is about a mile from the other two churches that were vandalized, according to Fox 5 DC.
