RCMP said they received reports of assault from six female students between the ages of 15 and 18 last month. Police said the attacks took place on school property between February 1 and May 31, 2022. Since then, other female students have come forward to police with information to help with the investigation. On July 4, Steinbach RCMP officers arrested David Bueti, 41. He has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference. None of the charges have been proven in court. Buetti was released from custody on a parole order with several conditions. According to the RCMP, Bueti worked as a teacher and coach at Steinbach Regional Secondary School from February 2022 to June 2022. Prior to that, he worked in several schools in Winnipeg. This includes a six-month term in 2021 at River East Collegiate and a four-month term in 2020 at Holy Cross School. He also taught at Holy Ghost School from 2006 to 2007 and at St. John Brebeuf School from 2007 to 2018. The police are continuing to investigate the incident.
