It happened around 12:30 p.m. outside a plaza in the area of Dufferin Street and Finch Avenue.
Police say investigators believe there may have been some sort of operation going on at a hookah lounge located on the plaza at the time.
“There were many witnesses and people in the area so we are appealing to members of the public with any information to contact 32 Division or Crimestoppers. If any of the businesses in the area have any footage that may have recorded the incident, we urge them to come forward as well,” Insp. Kathleen Sheremetkowski told CP24 Friday morning.
Police say paramedics attempted to perform life-saving measures on the man, but he was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
It remains unclear what led to the stabbing.
Sheremetkowski said police received a call several hours earlier about a fight in the area, but he’s not yet sure if there’s a connection.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
