According to a tweet from Rogers at 3:20 p.m., the telco said, “Our technical teams are working to restore our service with our global technology partners and are making progress.” Meanwhile, in London, it affects both the London Health Sciences Center (LHSC) and St. Joseph. A statement from St. Joseph states, “St. Joseph’s Health Care London is aware of the current outage of the Rogers network. The systems of St. Joseph inside the hospital are not affected. There are currently no changes to patient appointments, including surgeries. Patients with scheduled appointments should make sure to come to their appointment unless they have been contacted directly.” The hospital also says virtual care appointments are still available for those with access. For patients unable to connect, healthcare teams will be in touch to reschedule your appointment. On social media, LHSC says, “We are aware of the current outage of the Rogers network. LHSC’s systems within the hospital are not affected. At this time, there are no changes to patient appointments, including surgeries… Care Partners Waiting to take a discharged loved one home today, they should call the hospital to confirm if they are able, as our switchboard remains unaffected.” Despite the interruption of Rogers service, the Carling Heights COVID-19 Assessment Center remains open. While the outage is ongoing, you do not need an appointment today, according to LHSC. The London Police Service says it is also aware of the network outages Rogers customers are experiencing and is asking people not to check their phone by calling 9-1-1. Police tell CTV News London they have received several calls Friday morning from people who called 9-1-1 to make sure it was still working. “This connects the system for people who need emergency assistance,” police said in a social media post. Also, a note to people attending Sunfest Friday, many vendors are having trouble accepting payment, so you are asked to take cash. If you are having problems with your phone, you are asked to use a landline or try another mobile device that is not on the Rogers network. A statement from Rogers posted on social media read: “We know how important it is for our customers to stay connected. We are aware of the issues currently affecting our networks and our teams are fully committed to resolving the issue as soon as possible. We will continue to keep you updated as we have more information to share.”
