A large crowd gathered at a local car show to raise money for a service dog for a 7-year-old boy who is visually impaired. The Wheels For Wishes car show is an annual fundraiser held to raise money to provide service dogs to children with disabilities through the CNIB Guide Dog Program. Wheels for Wishes and CNIB have partnered for three years to raise money for Guide Dogs and Buddy Dogs in the province. This year’s show was in the aid of a 7-year-old boy from Corner Brook who was born with a rare genetic condition that has left him partially blind. Leon House, a founder of Wheels For Wishes, says the car show raises enough money to cover the $50,000 cost of getting a Buddy Dog. House says Wheels For Wishes is a volunteer-based group that covers all costs associated with the dog throughout their training process and up until their placement.
