Jason Van Tatenhove, former media director for the far-right anti-government militia group Oath Keepers, as well as self-identified former Trump supporter Stephen Ayres, testified Tuesday about their involvement in the lead-up to Jan. 6 and Trump’s influence on their actions. “The president woke everyone up, told everyone to get down. So basically we were going by what he said,” Ayres told the congressional committee investigating the riot on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.
