It is understood a significant amount of stock has been damaged and the warehouse will remain closed for some time. Explosions were heard by residents in the surrounding areas as the trucks’ fuel tanks exploded. Smoke and flames could be seen from miles around and the fire department received many calls. The site, which is used as a warehouse and external trailer unit, measures approximately 100m by 30m.’ Firefighters used four sets of breathing apparatus, three main jets, three hose jets and an aerial ladder platform monitor. The spokesman said: “Thames Valley Fire Control received multiple calls to the incident as heavy smoke is visible from the Monks Hill, Kingston and Kents Hill areas.” The fire is currently under control and the fire department is attempting to extinguish the scene. It is understood the warehouse, which is fitted with a sprinkler system, was evacuated and no one was injured.
