Police said they were called about an armed female suspect at Lethbridge Legal Guidance in the 400-block of 5 Street S. at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday and answered after taking the call. At approximately 3 p.m., members of the Lethbridge Police Department’s critical incident team entered the building and arrested the suspect. They said the victim, a 54-year-old woman, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. In an update released just before 8 p.m., police said the victim remained in hospital in serious but stable condition. Police have not released what caused her injuries. Amber Moens, an employee of the nearby Bread Milk & Honey cafe, was on break when the incident began. She said her boss asked her to check the security cameras. “The next thing I know we were being asked to evacuate.” A Global News crew at the scene heard a loud bang around 3 p.m., followed by several smaller bangs. A short time later, paramedics were seen transferring a stretcher to an ambulance which then drove away with its siren on. A few people can’t make it to the appointments, the whole block is booked.
