Harry the horse is back in front of Diamond H Tack on Kirschner Rd. after it was stolen on June 20, 2022. Harry the horse has been found. Three weeks after the iconic statue outside Diamond H Tack on Kirschner Road was stolen, Harry returned to his place of honor. The only difference now is that it is screwed in and has a few more scratches. On June 20, someone drove up in a UHaul and drove off with the 1970s fiberglass Prewitt model. Harry has been out of the tack shop for 26 years and has attended a number of community events, parades and 4H events. Diamond H co-owner Heather Robson said she received a call Monday morning from a customer who lives in Bear Creek in the Westside Road area. “Her neighbor had been out for a bike ride this morning and noticed a tarp and was brave enough to go and look under it, out in the bush. And it was Harry,” he explains. Heather went home and got her truck and called the RCMP to say she was on her way to pick up Harry and they met her there. He even got an escort back to the store. “Because we had him laying in the back of the truck and he (the officer) thought maybe that was the reason for a bunch of calls from people wondering why I might have a dead horse in the back of the truck.” The owner has installed a chain to lock Harry up so no one else can make out with the local landmark. “He’s locked up and he’s back here looking just as gorgeous in his antique self as he is,” she smiled. “No major damage. It just has a few more scratches on its history.” He suspects the thieves didn’t rent the UHaul specifically to make off with the statue, but instead drove around looking for anything of value. Robson jokes that now people can find their way around Kirschner again. “We’ve had a really big outpouring from the community. Not the horse community, but just the community in general. Because it was like, what are we going to do? How will we know where we are going? For 25 years we knew we had to turn to the horse to get into anything.” A horse blanket also stolen from outside the shop has not been found, but Robson is delighted to have Harry back, adding that she gave him a big hug.
