Now investigative journalist Tom Bower has claimed in his upcoming book Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “convinced themselves” during their royal tour of Oceania that Prince William ” he was jealous of their success.” In an extract published by The Sunday Times, the author shockingly claimed: “On October 23, a week into the tour, the die was cast. “Harry and Meghan seemed to have convinced themselves that William was jealous of their success in Australia. “It was the right time for the ‘change’. “To her staff, she gave the impression that she believed she personified the meaning of the monarchy.” Express.co.uk has contacted the Sussexes’ representatives at Archewell for comment. Meghan and Prince Harry touched on their visit to Australia during their interview with Oprah Winfrey, which aired last March. Asked by the TV presenter if he thought Meghan was “well received at first” by his family, Harry said: “Yes. Much better than I expected. DON’T MISS OUT “But, you know, my grandma was amazing the whole time. You know, my father, my brother, Kate and all the rest of the family, they were really welcoming. “But it really changed after the Australian tour, after our South Pacific tour.” He continued: “But it was also the first time the family saw how incredible she is at work. And that brought back memories.” Mrs Winfrey asked Harry if he referred to memories of Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s tour of Australia in the early 1980s, which clearly showed the popularity of the Princess of Wales and, it was later suggested, may have fueled the overshadowed’s jealousy Prince of Wales. After Duke gave Ms. Winfrey an affirmative answer, she pushed him to elaborate, saying:[The tour] where your father and mother went there, and your mother was dazzling. So you’re saying there were signs of jealousy?’ He replied, “Look, I wish we could all learn from the past.” He added that the Duchess was “into the family so quickly” and “effortlessly” during the tour and was able to connect with people easily. Meghan joined the royal family as one of its working members in May 2018 when she married Prince Harry. She immediately started working on causes close to her heart and in January 2019 she was awarded four royal patronages ranging from animal welfare to supporting women and gender equality. The Duke and Duchess stepped down from the company as senior members of the royal family at the end of March 2020 and have since moved to California. In late 2020, they founded their organization, Archewell, which includes audio and video production companies and a non-profit foundation. As well as charity work and supporting causes they care about – such as mental wellbeing and women’s empowerment – they’ve also landed deals as producers with Netflix and Spotify, and Harry has become chief influencer at mental wellbeing and coaching company BettterUp.
