Dobbs was remanded in custody. His next appearance is on July 26. A publication ban has been put in place for information raised during the bail hearing.


A Guelph man was arrested and faces a charge of second-degree murder after human remains were found Wednesday afternoon, Guelph police say. On Monday, Guelph police received information that a homicide had occurred Sunday inside a downtown apartment. The investigation led police Wednesday to a location near the intersection of Wellington Street East and Wyndham Street South where the remains of an adult man were found behind a business. A suspect has been identified. This man was located late Wednesday morning and arrested. Police were seen on Wednesday searching the river and riverbanks near the city centre. A police vehicle was parked outside 90 Carden St. on Thursday morning. A 43-year-old Guelph man has been charged with second-degree murder. He was scheduled to appear in Guelph bail court Thursday. Police have not released his name. Police said they believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. The investigation is ongoing.
