Kieran Trippier (NEW) £5.0m The Newcastle United full-back made an immediate impact at both ends of the pitch after arriving in the January transfer window last year. Trippier scored twice and kept a clean sheet in his first four appearances before being ruled out through injury. He averaged 5.6 points per start in his five Newcastle outings in 2021/22, having returned to action at the end of the season. Newcastle’s defensive outlook has changed since the appointment of Eddie Howe as manager last term. They had conceded in each of their first 11 games under Steve Bruce. The Magpies improved to keep eight clean sheets after Howe’s arrival in Gameweek 12, a total bettered by only five other teams. Possibility of setting up Trippier also boasts strong attacking potential thanks to his set-piece duties. He scored both of his goals from direct free kicks and has established himself as their No. 1 in corners. That all-around style of play suggests that Trippier can surpass his best-ever Fantasy total of 118 points this season. Certainly, Newcastle’s early schedule gives him the chance to reward the coaches. According to Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), four of their first six matches have seen them score just two. Trippier can take advantage of this streak, putting up points on both ends of the floor since the start of the season.
