Kristie St. Claire, a friend of Manthorne’s, says it is unusual for her to be out of touch with friends or family. “He has a lot of friends that he’s in very close contact with on a daily basis,” said St. Claire in an interview with CHEK News. “He attended a wedding party right now and is arranging it. So she’s in close contact on a regular basis with all her friends so none of those people have heard everything from her and they’re worried.” RCMP say she may be with her ex-boyfriend Justin Hall. “Friends and family are really concerned that her mom is basically exhausted from the stress right now,” St. Clair said. “People are very scared, very worried about her. That’s very different from her.” He says to help raise awareness of Manthorne, a rally will be held at Tseshaht Market on Sunday at 7pm. “We’re gathering tonight in Port Alberni on the highway, Pacific Rim Highway at Tseshaht Market,” said St. Claire. “Just for a vigilance gathering to clear up any questions people may have as well, because I know rumors are going around and information is being distorted.” Port Alberni RCMP say Manthorne’s vehicle was found south of Nanaimo. “We’re still looking for Amber, we’re still following up on all the leads and tips we’re getting from the public,” said Const. Richard Johns said in a press release. “Investigators are working around the clock to find her.” RCMP are asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of either Manthorne or Hall to contact police immediately. Her friends tell CHEK News that she last contacted friends and family on July 7. Her phone was pinged on July 8 in Port Alberni. St. Claire says she’s asking people to check to see if they have dash cam video that might show Manthorne. “We’re just asking everyone to look carefully at all of these photos,” St. Clair said. “Think about it for a moment and go back in your head and if anyone can remember or has dash cam footage from Friday around dinner time to Saturday around lunch time from the last few days in and around , leaving Port Alberni going down to Nanaimo, even any of the back roads.” St. Claire says many hope Manthorne will return home safely. “We want her to know how much we love her, all her friends and family,” St. Clair said. “Please be safe and come home and Justin please bring her back.” Friends and family of Amber Manthorne (right) hope she returns home safely.
