England were bowled out for just 110 by India in the first one-day international as Jasprit Bumrah took a superb 6-19
England capitulated to 110 as a Jasprit Bumrah-inspired India beat the shell-shocked hosts by 10 wickets in the first one-day international at The Kia Oval.
Jos Buttler’s side won in just 25.2 overs with Bumrah (6-19) posting the best ODI figures for an Indian bowler against England, before Rohit Sharma (76no off 58) and Shikhar Dhawan (31no off 54 ) propel the tourists to victory in just 18.4 overs sharing their 18th hundred partnership in one-day international cricket.
England were in danger of posting their lowest ever ODI total – which remains the 86 they made against Australia at Emirates Old Trafford in 2001 – as they slumped to 26-5 and then 68-8, only for David Willey (21) and Brydon. Carse (15) put on 35 for the ninth wicket, the highest stand of the innings, to take the hosts to three figures.
Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Liam Livingston departed for ducks – Moeen Ali (14) would have joined them if not for a drop from Rishabh Pant – as England were wrecked by Bumrah’s swing and incredible deliveries by Mohammed Shami (3- 31) in a wet and overcast south London.

Indian skipper Rohit – whose side won the previous T20 international series 2-1 – elected to bowl after winning the toss and his quicks torpedoed England, who initially fell to 7-3 inside three overs as Bumrah and Shami found too much movement and bounce on a green pitch.
The tourists suffered no similar top-order problems, although Dhawan would have been run out off the first ball of the chase if the shy Jonny Bairstow from the middle had been spot on.
India reached their target with 188 balls to spare – Rohit hit a 45th ODI half-century off 49 balls and Dhawan hit the winning boundary – to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, which continues at Lord’s on Thursday and then concludes at Emirates Old Trafford on Sunday.

The brilliant Bumrah stars as England with four ducks
Man-of-the-match Bumrah struck twice in the second over – Roy crawled onto his stumps and Root slipped a rising ball back – before dismissing Bairstow (7) in the fourth over as Pant took a superb one-handed grab and in he then bowled to drive Livingstone round his legs in the eighth.
According to CricViz, Bumrah’s delivery that hit Livingston swung 3.2 degrees, more than any other ball he has bowled in ODIs.

Shami was devastating with his seam movement, causing Stokes a golden duck as England’s Test captain was behind Pad and also accounting for white-ball captain Buttler, who top-scored with 30 off 32 deliveries – 24 of Butler’s runs came in boundaries.
Buttler slotted Suryakumar Yadav to the deep square-leg fence as he and Moeen – the only members of the top seven to make double figures – departed in the space of five balls after putting on 27 for the sixth wicket.
Moeen returned to Prasidh Krishna (1-26) to fall caught and bowled in the 14th over after Pant was bowled on the leg by Bumrah in the 10th over – England would have been 29-6 had the ball stuck to his glove Pants.

Craig Overton was then bowled for eight when Shami smashed a delivery through the wicket before Willey and Carse did a repair job, ensuring England did not sink to their worst ever score in the format.
But then Bumrah claimed both – Carse departed and Willey removed in search of the ramp – as the pacer bettered compatriot Ashish Nehra’s 6-23 against England in Durban during the 2003 World Cup.
That left Reece Topley out for six of seven deliveries – Topley smashed his first international six, off long-arm off-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, in the over before Willey was dismissed.
Topley and Willey then opened the bowling for England but could not find the rich movement found by Bumrah and Shami as India, without the injured Virat Kohli (mild groin problem), got off to a solid start before going into win – Topley, Overton and Carse hit for a combined 15 boundaries.

Nasser Hussain of Sky Sports Cricket: “Bumrah would have to be the best bowler of all formats in world cricket. Who would be the challengers? Maybe Trent Boult, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Jofra Archer when he’s fit. But she at the moment, he’s the best. That was spectacular. I don’t think you can be overly critical of England’s batsmen. Sometimes you just have to say it’s great bowling.”
Former India coach Ravi Shastri: “It was incredible from India. The ball did enough, there was something on offer there for the faster bowlers, but the way Bumrah and Shami bowled as a pair to put pressure on England from early on it was something Amazing. Once the first four or five were over, there was no looking back.”

England captain Josh Buttler: “You definitely don’t want days like that to come. It’s hard to do but it’s definitely the key not to panic, not to look too hard and find too many mistakes. India bowled fantastically and the we did not manage to deal with it as well as we would like.
“But if I look back over the last five or six years, batting has been our super strength in this form of…
