Independent MHA Eddie Joyce is responding to a recommendation to expel him from Parliament until he provides the required financial disclosures to meet his obligation on conflict of interest provisions. Legislative Standards Commissioner Bruce Chaulk called for Joyce to be suspended in a report submitted to the legislature last month. Chaulk accused Joyce of “repeatedly and deliberately” refusing to provide the requested information. Joyce claims to have provided the requested information and spoke on the subject at a House of Commons meeting today. “I have no job,” Joyce claims. He apologized to Chaulk, with whom he has a complicated history. He turned the tables, accusing Chaulk of a conflict of interest. Joyce says Chaulk is the defendant in a civil lawsuit filed by Joyce in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador and that there is an ongoing privacy investigation against him.
