Related Chris Evans to join Emily Blunt in Pain Hustlers for Netflix Most people who saw The Gray Man in a recent screening applauded its dynamic, well-crafted action sequences and villainous characters, with particular praise for Indian actor Dhanush. Not everyone was as excited about the film, with Kyle Buchanan of the New York Times calling it Netflix’s emptiest star. You can see some early reactions to The Gray Man below. The Gray Man is two hours of James Bond meets The Fast and the Furious. Super exciting action, huge scale and sets, solid, self-aware performances, consistent laughs, just a lot of fun. Gosling and Evans rule, the supporting cast is great, it’s a little obvious but never boring. pic.twitter.com/hSoTwgCMfA — Germain Lussier (@GermainLussier) July 11, 2022 #TheGrayMan is a high-octane action thriller with a fun, competitive (and sometimes funny) Ryan Gosling vs. @ChrisEvans dynamic. Ana de Armas was one of my favorite elements, proving yet again that she is a force to be reckoned with in any action film, while Dhanush is a total badass! @netflix pic.twitter.com/4nt76jEb18 — Lauren Bradshaw (@flickchickdc) July 11, 2022 IMO #TheGrayMan will get a lot of comparisons to the Bourne franchise, but the action sequences and fight scenes in @Russo_Brothers’ latest are next level. Plus, those movies never had a villain as bat sh– evil (and funny) like Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen. 👍🏽👍🏽 pic.twitter.com/JTabHxnKJs — joey morona (@joeyjoe) July 11, 2022 Netflix’s #TheGrayMan is a solid action thriller (the streamer’s best yet), with great performances from Gosling, Evans and de Armas. The fight choreography and stunt work is outstanding, to put it mildly. Overall a winner. — Jeff Ewing (@ReelJeffEwing) July 11, 2022 THE GRAY MAN is a regularly aggressive, murderous action film from the Russo Brothers. Ryan Gosling brings his usual stoic toughness against Chris Evans’ evil charm. They’re not as impressive as the Mission: Impossible or John Wick movies, but they’re still a heavy piece of popcorn fun. pic.twitter.com/ggXuErNUYs — Matt Neglia (@NextBestPicture) July 11, 2022 THE GRAY MAN is only 2 hours of Tom Clancy dropping off shouting mindless crap like “make him die” in between bland action scenes in beautiful locations, all leading up to the most hilariously stupid reveal of the villain’s story I’ve ever seen. almost made me miss Red Notice. — david Ehrlich (@davidehrlich) July 11, 2022 THE GRAY MAN is Netflix’s emptiest star. If DALL•E simulations cost $200 million, this is exactly what they would produce — Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) July 11, 2022 With a budget of over $200 million, The Gray Man is one of Netflix’s most expensive movies, but they’re already planning several more. In addition to a direct sequel to be written by Stephen McFeely, it has also been reported that a prequel focusing on Chris Evans’ character is also in the works by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The official synopsis for The Gray Man: The Gray Man is CIA Coroner Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka Sierra Six. Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly skilled Agency-sanctioned death merchant. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted around the world by ex-CIA operative Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), who will stop at nothing to take him out. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back. He will need it. The Gray Man opens in select theaters on July 15th and will be released on Netflix on July 22nd.
