Jessie Morrissey, 26, was last seen on February 13 around 9:30 p.m. in Leamington near snowmobile trail 104. She was reported missing the next day and has not been seen or heard from since. RCMP previously said they did not consider Morrissey’s disappearance suspicious. In a news release Wednesday, the RCMP said they believe the public may have information that could help with the investigation. Sgt. Craig Learning, commander for the Cumberland County RCMP, said police have collected valuable information and evidence to date, but there are still many gaps. “We are confident that there are people who have critical information to close these gaps and advance research,” Learning said in the press release.
Disappear out of character
The missing man’s mother, Jodi Morrissey, has long said she believes the disappearance is suspicious. “With all the rumors going around and stuff like that, we kind of begged the cops to think of it as fishy or suspicious from the get-go,” she said in an interview Wednesday. “Anyone who knows Jessie knows he wouldn’t get up and take off for that long.” The RCMP conducted days of ground and aerial searches using search and rescue teams and police dog services. More than 40 people have been interviewed to date with the help of the RCMP’s major crime unit, according to the release. Search warrants have also been executed to gather evidence. Morrissey said she’s grateful police are getting her son’s face and story out. “Hopefully someone will come forward so we can get some closure,” he said. “We all want to know that he is simply not forgotten by anyone.”
