The incident happened on the A23 near Bolney at around 5.15am. this morning. The black Nissan Qashqai was traveling towards oncoming southbound traffic along the carriageway before colliding with the articulated lorry. The car was left overturned in the inside lane, while the truck was partially off the road. The A23 was closed on both sides Police, fire and ambulance crews attended but the driver, a 23-year-old man from Cuckfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. His relatives have been informed. Police are appealing for witnesses following the crash. The force wants to speak to the occupants of a dark colored Ford who stopped at the scene but left before police arrived. The crash happened on the southbound side of the A23 Both sides of the A23 were closed for more than 10 hours between Pease Pottage and Warninglid to allow the investigation and recovery.
