UPDATE: 7:20 a.m Reader photos from the scene of the crash that closed Highway 97 in Peachland show a heavily damaged vehicle that appears to be an SUV. The black vehicle has heavy damage on what appears to be its driver’s side and the SUV is in the ditch in some trees in images taken shortly after the crash. UPDATE: 6:30 a.m Witnesses report seeing a medevac helicopter at the scene of the crash in Peachland that closed the 97 Freeway. The helicopter was seen landing around 6 a.m. on Princeton Avenue, where the incident closed the freeway in both directions. The nature of the collision and injuries remain unknown at this time. Details of the crash are not known at this time, but the highway remains closed at one of the major intersections in the Central Okanagan community. DriveBC first reported the incident at about 4:45 a.m. on Princeton Ave. It is not known if anyone was seriously injured in the incident, which has closed the highway in both directions.
