Action News was there as Richard Jones turned himself in to police along with his lawyer on Monday. Jones has also been charged with criminal conspiracy. The 10-year-old was released and not charged. Jones and others were allegedly involved in the June 24 attack in the 2100 block of Cecil B. Moore Avenue in North Philadelphia. RELATED: Officer creates portrait of 73-year-old man killed in North Philly shooting Police say 73-year-old James Lambert, affectionately known as “Simi,” was attacked by four men and three women. Many of the suspects are believed to be in their early to mid-teens. Police said the suspects hit Lambert multiple times with objects, knocking him to the ground. In surveillance video released by police Friday, the suspects are seen attacking the victim with a traffic cone. Police say Lambert suffered head injuries and later died. Homicide Capt. Jason Smith says at least two teenagers were involved in the beating. The medical examiner says Lambert died of blunt force trauma. Lambert’s family tells Action News they’re glad the teenager turned himself in, but they’re praying the other suspects do the same.
