Rahm was the 2021 US Open champion and ranked No. 1 in the world, advancing to last year’s Open Championship. Can he take the title in a loaded 2022 Open Championship field? Before you lock in your 2022 Open Championship picks or enter any PGA DFS tournament on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to check out the PGA Tour predictions and betting tips from SportsLine’s proven golf model. SportsLine’s proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, it’s over $9,500 in his best bets since then, closing out tournaments after a tournament. McClure’s model listed Thomas as his best bet to win the 2022 PGA Championship. That bet came in at +1600, and for the entire tournament, McClure’s best bets returned almost $800. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s model was all over Scheffler’s first major championship victory of his career heading into the weekend. In addition, McClure’s best bets included Collin Morikawa outright winning the 2021 Open Championship, even though he was a huge 40-1 long shot. The model was also all over Rahm’s (10-1) first career championship win at the 2021 US Open. Rahm was two moves away from the lead heading into the weekend, but the model still projected him as the winner. That same model has also nailed eight majors entering the weekend. Anyone who has followed it has seen huge returns. Now that the 2022 British Open golf tournament is approaching, SportsLine simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results were amazing. Top 2022 Open Championship Predictions
A huge shocker calls for the model at the 2022 Open Championship: Rory McIlroy, the 9-1 favorite for the 2022 British Open, doesn’t win it all and just finishes in the top three. The 31-year-old Northern Irishman has 35 combined wins on the PGA and European Tours and three major championships. He won the Open Championship in 2014 and finished third when it was held in St. Andrews in 2010. He competes in majors on a regular basis, but inconsistent play continues to cost him titles. In three majors this season, he has shot at least one round of 67 or lower, but also had at least one round of 73 or higher. The model calls for him to fall short again, making him one of the favorites to fade in the 2022 British Open betting. Another surprise: Will Zalatoris, a 25-1 long shot, is making a strong run at the title. It’s a target for anyone looking for a huge payday. Zalatoris was forced to withdraw from the 2021 Open before the second round of competition due to injury. He was in contention after shooting a one-under 69 in his first round during his Open debut. His success continued this season as he lost a three-hole playoff to Justin Thomas at the PGA Championship before narrowly losing to Matthew Fitzpatrick at the US Open. He also finished sixth at the Masters, so he now has six top-8 finishes in his last eight tournaments. Zalatoris has nearly cracked the top 10 in the world rankings despite not having a PGA Tour title under his belt. He has shown that he has what it takes to compete in every major tournament he enters, making him a strong bet at big odds this weekend. See who else to choose here.
