Registered nurse Sarah Jones of Castlegar will also have to undergo remedial training in professional ethics, according to a public announcement posted Friday by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. The notice states that Jones has signed a consent agreement with the college for professional misconduct committed in 2021 “arising from the use of her position, experience, credibility in public health and knowledge of the vaccination system to carry out the fraudulent creation of four vaccine cards.” He goes on to say that Jones gave different stories about what happened when she spoke with her employer, witnesses and the college. “Her behavior was considered a significant ethical departure from the behavior expected of a nurse,” the statement said. The PK government has said all incidents of suspected fraud linked to the provincial vaccine registry will be referred to the police. A college spokesman said he could not provide any information about whether Jones’ actions have ever been investigated by police. RCMP said they generally cannot confirm whether an investigation has taken place unless someone is charged. The requirement to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 before using a range of services was in effect from 13 September 2021 to 8 April 2022.
