Rudd, who plays Ant-Man in the Avengers franchise, reportedly responded to a now-viral Facebook post by 12-year-old Brody Ridder’s mother, Cassandra, when he only received two autographs wished for him. Cassandra, from Colorado, US, revealed her anguish over her estranged son as she urged people to “teach their children kindness”. He said: “My poor son. Two teachers and a total of two students signed his yearbook. Despite Brody asking all kinds of kids to sign it. “So Brody took it upon himself to write,” she said, adding: “My heart is broken.” Cassandra told the Washington Post how Brody had been repeatedly bullied and struggled socially at school. The story caught the attention of Rudd, 53, who decided to surprise Brody with a Facetime call. In a clip Cassandra shared on Facebook, she told Brody: “Anyway, I heard about you. I’m like, ‘I have to talk to this kid because this kid looks like my type.’ “I like chess, he likes fencing, he likes dinosaurs…am I right?” he continued. “Well, I’m really excited to talk to you and meet you!” And in a further bid to lift Brody’s spirits, the kind-hearted actor sent him a signed Ant-Man helmet and a handwritten note. It’s important to remember that even when life is hard, things get better. “There are so many people who love you and think you’re the coolest kid around – I’m one of them. “I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’re going to accomplish.” Image: Photo: Cassandra Cooper / Facebook A message on the helmet read: “To my good friend Brody for when he takes over the world!” Rudd reportedly texted Brody to let him know a package was on the way, before the student said the actor was his favorite superhero. “You are mine,” was the reply. Cassandra has since been inundated with requests for Brody’s address to send him letters, which she puts in a special book for him.
