An anesthesiologist who allegedly raped a pregnant woman during a caesarean section may have attacked two more mothers on the same day. Giovanni Quintella Bezerra, 32, was arrested on suspicion of rape after he was allegedly secretly filmed raping a woman after heavily drugging her at Hospital da Mulher in São João de Meriti, Rio de Janeiro. The woman’s husband told her to leave the room without being able to see his newborn baby and only learned what had happened to his wife when she recognized the doctor on TV after his arrest. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” said spokeswoman Barbara Loba, who is in charge of investigating the case.
