Embattled former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo reportedly took advice from former President Bill Clinton as he fought for his political life amid multiple sexual abuse allegations.
Clinton has faced multiple sexual assault allegations and was impeached by the House of Representatives after an affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky was revealed.
Cuomo has been the subject of a state sexual harassment investigation following accusations from 11 women who worked for the governor. Cuomo eventually resigned last August after a scathing report on the investigation was released by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The allegations included a range of inappropriate behavior, including insinuating that he wanted to engage in sexual relations with a young female employee, forced kisses, unwanted sexual displays and more.
The disgraced governor said he was “deeply sorry” for any behavior deemed inappropriate while in office, but denied the allegations contained in James’ report and accused state investigators of bias.

Clinton provided advice to Cuomo during the harassment investigation, suggesting the governor hold a public press conference to address New Yorkers directly in an effort to prevent his resignation, according to an excerpt from his book “Any Given Tuesday.” Democratic General Lees. Smith about events that occurred near the end of Cuomo’s time in office. Excerpt published in Politico
After James’ report went public, Smith detailed a phone call she had with several other people, including Clinton, in which the governor’s advisers told him his career was “over.”
Smith says Cuomo wasn’t getting any sympathy from the people on the call, despite the “single exception” of Clinton, who said she needs to get out and talk to her constituents directly about the situation.

But advisers agreed that if Cuomo held a public event, it would hurt him more than help him, so Clinton’s idea was dropped.
Clinton himself has been publicly accused of sexual assault and misconduct by numerous women in recent years before, during and after his presidency.
Among the notable sexual misconduct allegations against Clinton: Juanita Brodrick accused then-Attorney General Clinton of Arkansas of raping her in 1978. Kathleen Willey accused him of sexual harassment in the Oval Office in 1993. Paula Jones accused then-Gov. Clinton that he exposed her in 1991. and Leslie Millwee accused him of sexual assault during an incident in 1980.
Former President Bill Clinton has been publicly accused of sexual harassment by multiple women in recent years before, during and after his presidency, and was also involved in a highly publicized affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
The former president has denied wrongdoing over the years regarding the allegations.
He was eventually indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice during a federal investigation into the Lewinsky affair.
