The four-year-old pet has been avoiding airport staff, airline officials and animal experts at Boston’s Logan International Airport since he escaped from his cage while chasing some birds. “Whether from fatigue or hunger we will never know, but this morning she let herself be caught,” an airport spokeswoman said. The black cat with green eyes underwent a health check and is now preparing to return to her family. “I’m kind of in disbelief,” said owner Patty Sahli. “I thought, what are the chances of getting her back? “But I got a call this morning and I’m so shocked.” He added: “It was such a community effort. We are so grateful to everyone who helped look for her.” Rowdy’s escape took place on June 24 after Ms Sahli and her husband Rich returned to the US after 15 years in Germany. When the Lufthansa flight landed, the feline ran out of her cage to try to catch some birds. A chase ensued, with her escape sparking a massive search by staff, construction workers and animal welfare advocates. In a mission to locate the pet, the team used safe release traps and set up wildlife cameras to try and catch it. In a Facebook post, Ms Sahli said they also sent Rowdy’s favorite treats to the airport to place in the cages and even recorded voice notes to play. Despite numerous sightings, Rowdy continued to elude her pursuers – but calm has now been restored.
