The collision occurred on the mountain road between Buncrana and Carndonagh around 22.50. The driver of one of the cars, a man about 40 years old, was found dead and the scene. His body was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. A man and a woman in the second car were taken to LUH after the collision. The woman, who is around 30 and a passenger in the car, is said to be in serious condition. Mountain Road (R244) is closed between Buncrana and Carndonagh and there are diversions to Drumfries and Churchlanquarters.
