A 57-year-old man died after a drowning incident in Witless Bay on Saturday. Police responded to a report of a body found submerged in the water at a local swimming hole near Southside Track Road just before 8:00 Saturday night. The Witless Bay Volunteer Fire Department pulled the body from the water. Emergency Medical Services were unsuccessful in their efforts to revive the man. The RCMP is working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as their investigation continues.
